Blend a personal scent inspired by the botanicals and aromatics of Jewish tradition — frankincense, labdanum, sandalwood, and more. Drawing from fragrances mentioned in the Torah and those native to the land of Israel, you’ll create a bespoke perfume to bottle and take home. We'll gather in a cozy event space during Sukkot, the Jewish harvest festival that invites us to step outside our routines and notice the beauty of the natural world. Throughout Jewish tradition, scent has marked moments of holiness — from the ketoret incense offered daily in the Beit HaMikdash to the fragrant plants that have long accompanied ritual and celebration. This workshop reimagines that tradition through the art of natural perfumery, offering a tactile way to explore memory, spirituality, and the botanical world. The workshop will be led by Alchemologie, a Brooklyn botanical fragrance house known for its extensive library of plant-based aromatics and its customizable perfume experiences. Drawing on rare essential oils coupled with traditional perfumery techniques, Alchemologie invites people to create deeply personal fragrances while fostering a meaningful connection to the natural intelligence of our planet. A portion of proceeds will support Adamah, the largest Jewish environmental organization in North America. Adamah cultivates Jewish life through environmental education, climate action, and a deeper relationship with Earth — making it a natural partner for an evening rooted in the plants and spices that have shaped Jewish ritual for thousands of years.
